Emergency Auto Locksmith Service - Ford Transit Custom 2018
Just having a catch up from a couple of weeks ago -
Recieved a call from the customer in Tamworth whos Ford Transit Custom 2018 ignition was on the brink of failure.
Ignition problems are very common in the Ford Transit range and often start with a sticky ignition to eventual full failure. Fortunately in this case the customer called just in time.
The job starts with checking the customers current keys, which were very worn. I copied the existing key and produced a new fresh key to turn the ignition to position 1.
With the ignition in position 1 I could eject the old igniton barrel and then copy the internal Wafers to a brand new ignition barrel. Once I had placed the correct wafers in position I greased the ignition and slotted it back into the ignition housing.
As a part of this package I provided a new key and programmed the key using my Autel 508 Key programmer.
Care was taken in this case to ensure the vehicle voltage was stable or the key programming may fail.
In this case the job was more straight forward as I was able to force the key to position 1. Had I have been unable to, then I would have to drill the ignition barrel out before proceeding.
I often reccommend a new spare key with every ignition, which I do at a discount as I am already at the job. I often find that without the new key, the ignition can fail quickly as the old key is so worn and causes further issues.
This service ranges from around £200-£300 depending on the additional extras requested or other external factors.
